Wolves
by Kathryn Loggins

Narrative by Bart Freundlich

This compelling narrative feature is written and directed by Bart  Freundlich and stars Michael Shannon, Carla Gugino and Taylor John Smith. Michael Shannon, who is basically an independent film mainstay, plays Lee, the troubled father of Anthony Keller (Smith). Anthony is a High School basketball captain with tons  of promise and talent, gearing up to go to Cornell University on a sports  scholarship. Unfortunately his father’s transgressions are affecting Smith’s  education and future career to the point, where at the end of the film Anthony  has to choose between his own life and the life of his father. It is an exploration of family dysfunction, loyalty and the art of letting go. Wolves takes the audience on a dark  journey that offers glimmers of hope and promise, but also faces us with the  stark consequences of addiction and selfishness set in the heart of New York City.
