Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner star in the third instalment of the Twilight vampire saga. The film is directed by David Slade, and is based on the novel by Stephenie Meyer, with screenplay by Melissa Rosenberg.
Bella (Stewart) wants to consummate her love for Edward (Pattinson) by becoming a vampire (albeit a non-human-blood-drinking one). Jacob (Lautner), a werewolf, tries to convince her that she's better off with him. Tension between Edward and Jacob grows but, when Bella is again threatened by the vengeful Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard), the reformed vampires and werewolves put aside their age-old enmity to battle against an army of brutal, new-born vampires. Eclipse is the culmination of a rather insipid love story. The acting is mediocre at best and the unimaginative fight scenes fail to create any kind of real tension. (Osanna Vaughn)
