Riley (Kaitlyn Dias) is an eleven year old struggling with moving to a new city. When her family moves from Minnesota to San Francisco she must learn to cope with unfamiliar situations and conflicting feelings. Helping Riley are her emotions: Joy (Amy Poehler), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Jack Black) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). These five characters are working daily from Headquarters, the control center of Riley’s mind, to guide her through these tough new experiences. The conflict between the little voices inside Riley’s head is brought to life delightfully with the voices from these well-known actors. As we watch Riley and her emotions struggle to deal with her new life, we are shown how experiences make us who we are and the importance of memories.

All of us, no matter the age, remember the trials of growing up. Even as adults we understand the conflicting emotions that help to guide us through our daily lives and make us tick.

Pixar has, yet again, created an animated film which will touch a cord with both kids and adults. (Christine Riney)
