On a beautiful early spring day in 1928, Christine Collins (Angelina Jolie) was called in to work on her day off and so left her nine-year-old son Walter home alone. When she returned home, Walter was gone without a trace. The corrupt Los Angeles police department conducted a search without success until five months later, when they found a child claiming to be Walter and brought him to L.A. In an emotional public reunion, Christine is persuaded by police to accept the boy although she knows he is not her son. Her battle against the police to return the wrong child and continue searching for her son lands her in an insane asylum, committed by the police. It’s hard to believe that this is a true story, sensitively directed by Clint Eastwood with Angelina Jolie in a truly heartbreaking performance. (Mary Nyiri)
