This science fiction fantasy film takes us into a dark world where evil reigns. It is where Master Gregory (Jeff Bridges), the last of his kind, a knight with exceptional powers, can contain the evil spirits with the help of son who is the seventh son in his family. In the distant past Gregory had imprisoned the malevolent and powerful witch Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore), who has now escaped her cage. Running out of apprentices, Master Gregory chooses Tom Ward, who seems to be holding a different deck of cards than the candidates before him.

The visual effects plus cinematography, along with this excellent cast, are quite appealing but fall short due to the execution of the script. My guess is that there were too many cooks in the kitchen when I look at how many writers were involved in this project. I personally would not spend the money to see this turkey and wait to see it on prime television. (Shelly Schoeneshoefer)
